Ted Bobak, MS, P.E., CSP is the Vice President of Safety and Environmental Services at Safety Controls Technology (SCT), a national leader in occupational safety and health engineering consulting services with a unique core competency in the glass production industry. Mr. Bobak received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, followed by a master’s degree in environmental engineering, with a focus on energy, environment, and economics, graduating summa cum laude from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He is a licensed Professional Environmental Engineer (P.E.) and a Board Certified Safety Processional (CSP). Additionally, Ted holds six sigma lean manufacturing certifications and has completed extensive EHS training in industry. He has worked in public, private, and government sectors, with a primary focus on manufacturing and construction, as a corporate Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) leader, engineering consultant, industry expert, and owner’s representative.
Mr. Bobak is a results driven business partner with a proven track record of achieving breakthrough performance with sustainable results for industry leaders EJ Gallo Winery, Honeywell, Gallo Glass, MWH Global, and numerous Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Bobak can design and launch solution‐orientated management systems and provide a roadmap for regulatory compliance and a zero‐injury culture by drawing from over a decade of successful leadership experience. His broad EHS experience includes developing and implementing world‐class environmental & safety programs to mitigate liability, reduce significant injuries and workers compensation spend, drive a positive site culture, and build relationships with regulatory agencies. His experience includes working under attorney client privilege to mitigate & negotiate multi‐million‐dollar environmental settlements and OSHA citations, and executing complex facility air, hazardous waste, and wastewater permits.
While at Gallo Glass, Mr. Bobak led the transformational changes that resulted in >70% reduction in recordable injuries and significant workers compensation cost savings within a 2‐year timeframe. Simultaneously, on the environmental side, he led the efforts to execute full compliance to the state hazardous waste consent decree, resulting in no major findings within 1‐year of settlement. Other successes included developing a strong safety culture at the company through safety committees & recognition programs, implementing timely injury reporting & effective case management processes, building the EHS department from the ground up, resolving multiple OSHA investigations with notices of no violation, and mitigating historic title V air permit liabilities. Ted believes true EHS success within an organization is only achieved through a strong partnership between employees, leadership, and EHS.
